The Miracle Mile – The Future History EP

The Miracle Mile The Future History EP

Whenever I hear that a hardcore band is out of L.A. I’m slightly surprised. L.A. Always seems like a Hardcore ghost town to me. I know that’s bullshit, but offhand the only band I can think of is Terror. But hey here’s a second one I can identify! This album’s pretty generic. Yeah it’s angry, but still you can’t you haven’t heard it before. Think Blacklisted with a raspier singer. The songs blend together till the end song “Suburban Home” which is actually pretty cool. So nothing really challenging here, but you can still mosh out to this album. And in the end isn’t that what really counts?

Dorcia – Tourist

Dorcia Tourist:

These dudes have one pimped out Myspace. It’s too bad that is the best thing I can say about them. Don’t get me wrong, these guys aren’t horrible. They are just generic. This is metalcore in the the vain of Evergreen Terrace, though slightly learning towards the metal more so than the core. But you’ve heard all of this before. Gang vocals? Yup. Odd electronic interludes? Yeah they’re here. The songs tend to blend into eachother into one bland pile. Again not a bad band, but they don’t stick out in a crowded genre.

Baroness – Red Album

Baroness Red Album:

Hi, I’m boring! I try to be stoner rock but end up being generic and plodding!

Rating: 7/15 the EPs were better. I’m serious on this!

Minotaur Shock-Amateur Dramatics

Joins the long list of albums that sound like Nintendo games with an extra keyboard thrown in for good measure.

Rating: 5/15 Random encounters

Mr Scruff-Ninja Tuna

Mr Scruff Ninja Tuna:

The adventures of fart synth and generic beat, with some cool samples thrown in for balance.

Rating: 10/15 Album names that lower your points before I’ve heard the album

Pink Razors – Leave Alive

Pink Razors Leave Alive:

Lame generic pop punk. Sadly there’s not much more to it than that. Oh wait, some female vocals.

Rating: 5/15 goofy haircuts and awkward myspace photos

Misery Index-Traitors

Misery Index Traitors:

Sounds like Napalm Death with a dash of Pantera. Generic and boring, theres plenty of bands that sound like this but better.

Rating: 9/15 Its been done points

The Presets-Apocalypso

The Presets Apocalypso:

Earnest vocals and lyrics, too bad the beats and synth lines are generic and dated.

Rating: 10/15 Aptly named bands

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart Selftitled:

Props on making the same indie-rock record every indie band has made since the mid-1980s.
